The UF-HHMI Science for Life Graduate Student Award is now accepting applications for the spring 2014 competition.  This award recognizes graduate students who mentor undergraduates on research projects in the STEM disciplines that merit co-authorship on papers published in peer-reviewed journals.  Awardees will receive a monetary award and be recognized at the annual reception at the UF President’s House as well as during commencement.  For more information, please visit our website or contact Christy LaPlante at    The deadline for applications is Monday, February 24, 2014.

Congratulations to the following Movement Disorders members on your presentations at the “Victory Summit” in Jacksonville  on Jan 25, 2014, hosted by  Davis Phinney Foundation for Parkinson’s. The nationally prominent foundation established by Davis Phinny, well known bicyclist, hosts daylong event in several cities in US each year focusing on wellness among people affected by Parkinson’s.  Chris Hass, Ph.D. and Shankar Kulkarni, Ph.D, MSPT presented a breakout session including Practical rehab applications supported by research findings to prevent falls . This newly introduced topic at the Victory Summit was appreciated by a full house audience.  Please see attached letter.  DavisPhinneySummitResponse2014. Kudos also to Dr. Chris Hess, M.D. who presented a well-received breakout session on pain management at this summit.
