East Visitor Lobby Area Will be Temporarily Closed for further Construction – Please share with colleagues, patients and visitors. TO: UF Health faculty and staff Re: UF Health Shands Hospital (north campus) first-floor construction update. WHEN: May 31, 6 a.m.-June 2, 6 a.m. WHY: As part of ongoing renovations for UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital, new flooring will be installed. DETAILS: A staff member will be stationed outside the front circle entrance by the valet and will help guide patients, visitors and staff members to their destinations. Please use the main atrium and lobby doors as entry and exit points. The east visitor lobby information desk will be relocated closer to the atrium during this time. Guest information services will staff the atrium desk as well. Wayfinding signage will be posted in adjacent hallways and on doors indicating re-routed foot traffic paths to access the Food Court, gift shop and nine-pack elevators in the east lobby. Please alert staff who may be impacted. Please be prepared to assist patients and visitors who need help navigating this area during this time. Diego Rincon-Limas, PhD, Assistant Professor of Neurology has been awarded another NIH R21 Exploratory Research Grant for 2 years. The title of this grant is “Optogenetic modeling of primary and secondary CNS proteinopathies in Drosophila”. Congratulations Dr. Rincon-Limas!!!

ATTENTION: Important deadline regarding COMPENSATORY LEAVE – Employees must report 2013-2014 compensatory leave use by Thursday June 5. All non-exempt TEAMS and USPS employees as well as exempt USPS employees may use overtime and/or special compensatory leave through the end of the fiscal year—June 30—but the leave must be entered into the Elapsed Timesheet in the myUFL system no later than 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 5. If the leave is not entered for use by this deadline, it will be cashed out automatically during the pay period ending June 19 for the payday of Friday, June 27.
Luke’s Way: Recovery in Motion

, is hosting their inaugural Luke’s Way Recovery Run 5K on Saturday May 31, 2014
. All proceeds will go directly towards Luke’s Way: Recovery in Motion’s mission of funding a Locomotor Training program designed specifically for children and young adults with neuromuscular disabilities. The race will begin at the Gale Lemerand Commuter Lot at 8:00 am and will be followed with free food, door prizes and a silent auction.
