July 12–July 18, Volume 7, Issue 27

Announcements:

From the Dean’s office:

The College of Medicine will again be participating in the American Medical Association Academic Leadership Group Membership Program. This provides the College of Medicine a significant discount which is determined by the number of physicians in the college participating in the program. Without the discount regular membership dues are $450/each, last year the cost for the 2 Neurology faculty that elected to participate was $336/each.

We receive a significant discount by participating in the group plan.   Please be aware that any physician electing not to participate in this group membership program will be personally responsible for their own dues payment.  No payments will be made from any other funding sources throughout the University of Florida.  No individual reimbursements will be made for dues payments made directly to the AMA.

This information for the college will be sent to the AMA in order to generate an invoice to the College of Medicine for payment. The college will then process these memberships with one invoice on one payment with all costs being attributed to the individual departments (and to you via your flex allotment).  Any physician electing not to participate by the deadline of July 30, 2015 will not be added to the roster for the 2016 dues year.   Enrollment will be once annually.  Physicians cannot be added throughout the year.    The actual cost of membership will not be determined until a final participation count has been submitted to the AMA.

There is a roster with demographic information that has to be submitted for each physician in order to be included.  If you are interested in participating in the group membership, please reply to me before July 30th. I will send you a separate email asking that you provide me with the requested demographic information.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Robin E. Smith
Assistant Director, Med/Health Admin
Department of Neurology

Registration Required For UF Business Travel outside the United States:

In a recent audit of University travel conducted by the Office of the Inspector General, it was noted that most of the employees tested, who were traveling outside the United States, had not registered with the UF International Center as required by the University (link below).  This requirement has been established to ensure the safety of faculty, staff, and students participating in official University international travel.  In addition, the registration system notifies the traveler if their plans include travel to a restricted country and how to obtain necessary approvals.

Please take steps to ensure that all individuals traveling outside the United States on University business have registered with the UF International Center prior to traveling.

Annual Physician Billing Compliance Update Training (online) for 2015 is now available.

All UF/UFP faculty, staff and residents/fellows, not otherwise exempt, must complete this training annually. Physicians must complete the evaluation upon completion of training and answer the rating questions in order to receive CME credit.
Due date for completion:   July 31, 2015
