Announcements
The deadline for UF Health employees and volunteers to complete their annual HIPAA training and Confidentiality Statement renewal is March 31, 2015. Consistent with UF policy, failure to complete the requirements by the deadline will result in disciplinary action to be imposed upon non-compliant departments and employees.
 
We would like to announce that Dr. Swetha Renati has been named chief resident for the 2015-2016 academic year.  Congratulations Dr. Renati!
 
Congratulations to Dr. David Fitzgerald for receiving the VA Employee of the Year award from the Military Officers Association of America (Gainesville Branch) at the Alachua County Veterans Awards dinner. This will be Dr. Fitzgerald’s 2nd Employee of the Year award in 3 years from the Alachua County veterans.

UF Health IT, Support Services Downtime:
Saturday, March 14, 2015  – 10:00am – Noon
Migrate Shands/UF Health SFTP System from SFT22 to SFT23.
Impacts:  The UF Health / Shands SFTP system will be moving to a new server on 3/14/15 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM.  During this transition, SFTP services will be unavailable, including theHttps://SecureTransfer.ahc.ufl.edu webpage.  Impacts Gainesville only.

Wednesday, March 18, 2015  – 7:45pm – 11:00pm
Scheduled OnBase Document Imaging downtime
Impacts:  Technical Services Servers / Z2 Jobs, iHIRM Document Imaging, iHirm Support, and EPIC Admissions will be impacted in Gainesville and Jacksonville.
Description: OnBase Document Imaging Monthly Maintenance – 7:45pm – 11:00pm
Note:  Document Imaging will not be available and iHIRM scan links in Epic will not work during the downtime.  In addition EPIC Admissions users may see errors when attempting to scan documents.
 
UFIRST grants proposal system goes live this month
This month, UF will launch the first phase of UFIRST—the University of Florida Integrated Research Support Tool—with the implementation of a new proposal routing system. Beginning March 23, all proposals for sponsored funding will be required to be routed through UFIRST.
 
UFIRST Important Timeline Highlights
Launch of UFIRST is right around the corner and while you have seen some emails about the transition, I wanted to be sure you had these important dates as you prepare for upcoming research submissions.
March 13 – March 20: Any submissions during this time will need to be sent to RAC via email (com-rac-l@lists.ufl.edu) and include a signed DSP1.  RAC will forward the submissions to DSP once we have reviewed and approved.
March 21: Any submissions on or after this date will be required to use UFIRST.
 
Wine, Cheese, and Silent Auction:  Friedreich’s Ataxia Fundraising Event April 11th
Saturday April 11th from 7pm to 10pm, at the Town of Tioga Clubhouse, will be a fundraiser benefiting clinical research for gene therapy at the University of Florida that helps find a cure for Friedreich’s Ataxia. University of Florida 2014-2015 Superior Accomplishment Awards – Division 5 Awards
The University of Florida 2014-2015 Superior Accomplishment Awards program recognizes faculty and staff who have shown efficiency or economy in their work, have contributed outstanding and meritorious service, or who have improved the quality of life provided to students and employees. On March 18, an awards banquet will be held at the Paramount Plaza Hotel to honor our winners and to recognize their nominators, supervisors and college deans.

Brain Awareness Week March 16-20, 2015 Volunteers Wanted
Each year, the NCF Chapter of SfN hosts Brain Awareness Week. During this week, they visit classrooms from K-12th grade in the Gainesville area to teach students about the brain.
