Neurocritical Care

As the newest subdivision of neurology, Neurocritical Care has made significant advances to improve the management and outcome of critically ill neurological patients and patients with neurologic emergencies.

UF will soon recruit for a study to assess the effect of fever control on the outcome of patients in the neurological ICU.  There are also plans to initiate several other multi center studies later this year.

UF maintains a comprehensive registry of patients with acquired devastating neurological injuries.  Some example diseases include subdural hematoma, subarachnoid hemorrhage, status epilepticus and traumatic brain injury . This registry will continue to expand and allow for a better understanding of how acute neurocritical care management of these patients impact clinical and functional outcomes.
