Causes, Complications and Outcomes of hospitalization in patients with Dementia with Lewy Bodies (DLB)

Dr. Christopher Chauncey Spears – one of the movement disorders senior fellows – presented the poster “Causes, Complications and Outcomes of hospitalization in patients with Dementia with Lewy Bodies (DLB)” at the MDS conference in Vancouver, BC, Canada. His poster is highlighted in the September issue of the Neurology Reviews.

The poster summarizes a cross-sectional study evaluating hospitalized patients with DLB. Patients with DLB appear to be at higher risk of hospitalizations due to infections, falls, and hallucinations. Only 52% of the patients returned to their pre-hospitalization living situation prior to admission, the others requiring an upgrade in their level of care.
