The Comprehensive Stroke Center, certified by the Joint Commission since 2014, is dedicated to providing the highest quality stroke care for patients from Gainesville and 13 surrounding counties. Comprehensive stroke center certification recognizes hospitals with the state-of-the-art infrastructure, experienced staff, and extensive training to treat patients with complicated strokes. These stroke centers, identified as industry leaders, set the national agenda in highly specialized stroke care. The UF Health Comprehensive Stroke Center is one of only a handful of hospitals in the state and the only in north-central Florida to achieve this highest Joint-Commission designation.
Dr. Khanna joined the Vascular Neurology division of the Department of Neurology in 2011 and previously served as the Interim Medical Director from 2016-2018, during which time the Comprehensive Stroke Center was awarded the prestigious designation of Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite from the American Heart Association for its rapid treatment of stroke patients.
