Courtney Lockhart has been battling cervical dystonia for 13 years, causing her to be, in her sister’s terms, “crooked.” After a series of appointments with UF Neurology, Courtney was approved for deep brain simulation surgery, in which both sides of her brain would be operated on.
Within a few months, there were significant improvements in Courtney’s posture and ability to walk. This year, she was able to stand tall at her wedding.
“The feeling was indescribable,” she said. “You guys gave me my life back.”
