Recognizing Outstanding Work and Commitment
Two members of the UF Neurology community received national recognition at this year’s American Academy of Neurology (AAN) Annual Meeting, held April 18-22 in Chicago. The AAN Annual Meeting is the largest gathering of neurologists in the world, drawing tens of thousands of clinicians, researchers, and trainees each year. It serves as the primary venue for presenting new research, sharing advances in clinical care, and shaping the direction of the field.

Dr. Christopher Robinson received the 2026 Clerkship Director Teacher Award from the Consortium of Neurology Clerkship Directors (CNCD) on Saturday, April 18. The award is given annually to one neurology educator in the country who has demonstrated dedication to teaching neurology not only to future neurologists but also to medical students across all disciplines. Clerkship directors play a critical role in how medical students first encounter and understand neurological disease, and the CNCD – which develops the recommended core curricula used to teach clinical neurology to medical students nationwide – selects the recipient based on their contributions to curriculum development, teaching innovation, and student outcomes.

Dr. Hector Meza Comparan received the AAN Research Scholar Award on Sunday, April 19. The award supports early-career neurology investigators at a critical stage of their development as clinician-scientists, providing funding and recognition to researchers who have demonstrated the ability and promise to pursue academic careers in neurological research.
