Chief & Associate/Professor of Neuromuscular Neurology Division

The Department of Neurology at the University of Florida invites outstanding applicants for consideration for a full-time, tenure or non-tenure track faculty position at the Associate or Professor level to serve as Division Chief for the Neuromuscular Division. This well-established division has specialty clinics in ALS, MDA, CMT and a strong research track with industry and federally funded programs. The division has strong collaborations with basic scientists across the University and several international consortia. The neuromuscular division has a dedicated neuromuscular fellowship, and participates in the UF neurophysiology fellowship. The successful candidate will have a record of accomplishment in neuromuscular translational or clinical research and/or neuromuscular clinical trials. Clinical duties span inpatient and outpatient realms, including teaching and supervision of medical students, residents, and fellows.

The successful candidate will have a record of accomplishment in neurovascular translational research and/or stroke clinical trials and will perform inpatient attending and outpatient clinical duties, including teaching and supervision of medical students, residents, and stroke fellows.

The successful candidates may perform inpatient attending and outpatient clinical duties dependent upon specialty, including consultations, teaching, supervising medical students and residents, with a vested interest in research. Assistant/Associate Professor; Division of Epilepsy

The Division of Epilepsy in the Department of Neurology at University of Florida announces an outstanding new faculty opportunity for an early-career epilepsy neurologist with solid clinical skills and an established research interest. MD-PhD qualifications are desirable but not essential and all candidates will have at least one year of post-residency fellowship training in epilepsy and EEG. The candidate will join a well-established epilepsy group comprising five full-time and three part-time adult neurologists and one faculty neuroscientist, complemented by three advanced practice nurses and supported by neurosurgery, neuropsychology, neuropathology and neuroradiology that together comprise the UF Comprehensive Epilepsy Program.

 

Psychiatrists for an Interdisciplinary Ambulatory Neuromedicine Based Program

The Departments of Neurology and Psychiatry at the University of Florida, along with the Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases seek psychiatrists and/or neurologist-psychiatrists who have significant expertise and experience in geriatric psychiatry, neuropsychiatry, and/ or neuromodulation. The positions, which are aimed at clinician scientists and clinician educators with expertise in either geriatric psychiatry, neuropsychiatry, or neuromodulation, will potentially include endowed chairs, space and generous start-up packages. The positions will be housed within the Norman Fixel Institute, which features a new building and campus dedicated to interdisciplinary care and to include neuropsychology and neuromodulation. The Institute has in place a fully functioning clinic that is an “all under one roof” interdisciplinary clinical-research center which focuses on Parkinson’s, movement disorders, Alzheimer’s, ALS, TBI and related diseases. The Institute is also home to one of the largest DBS and neuromodulation centers in the world (DBS, TMS, tDCS, TI and other innovative technologies), a state-funded memory center, a sport neurology fellowship, and a certified ALS clinic. The vision, which the incumbents in these positions will support and lead, will be to provide world class mental health services to older adults with neurological disorders, with access to clinical research. The Institute campus boasts thousands of square feet which are available for research. The appointment, rank, and academic home will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. Subspecialty may be assigned based on experience.

 

Faculty Leader for the Alzheimer’s Disease Institute Based Program

The University of Florida and the Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases seeks a talented clinician-researcher or basic researcher to lead the comprehensive Alzheimer’s, memory and dementia program. The position will include a large endowed chair, space and a generous start-up package as well as leadership of a large existing group. This position has the potential to assume the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) directorship. The Norman Fixel Institute features a new building and campus dedicated to Alzheimer’s and related conditions. The Institute has in place a fully functioning clinic that is an “all under one roof” interdisciplinary clinical-research center. The Institute campus boasts thousands of square feet available for research. The University of Florida is also home to the McKnight Brain Institute and a free standing Neuromedicine Hospital. There is a NIH funded Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center and a fellowship training program for Alzheimer’s and behavioral neurology. Neuroscience and Neurology research are consistently ranked in the top 10 in NIH Blueridge ratings. UF is also funded by a State of Florida memory disorders center grant. The leadership position will have immediate and easy collaborative access to all of the clinicians and researchers at a top 5 ranked public university. The Institute is partners with the Center for Translational Research in Neurodegenerative Diseases and the McKnight Brain Institute and the candidate will be granted joint appointments for access to all resources. We seek a next generation leader and the appointment rank and track will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. Subspecialty may be assigned based on experience.
