Megan Smith is the Co-Lead Advanced Practice Provider for Neurocritical Care. Megan was born and raised in New York City and made her way to Florida via Birmingham, Alabama where she completed her Masters Degree in Physician Assistant Studies at UAB. She also holds a Masters Degree in Sports Medicine and Sports Fitness. Her role within the Neurocritical Care program focuses on mentorship, education, and scheduling. Megan’s hobbies include fitness, traveling and being a proud mom to two Vizslas, Molly and Finnegan.
Katherine “Mackenzie” Thompson, is the Co-Lead Advanced Practice Provider for Neurocritical Care. She was born and raised in Tennessee where she completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Tennessee and subsequently received her Masters of Medical Sciences in Physician Assistant Studies at Lincoln Memorial University. Her role within the Neurocritical Care program focuses on onboarding, mentorship and education. Mackenzie’s hobbies include spending quality time with her husband, daughter, and Goldendoodle, along with traveling to new places and visiting friends and family.
Kat joined the Neurocritical care team in 2019 after receiving a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Adult-Gerontology Acute Care from the University of Florida. She is a great asset to the team with her education and proceduralist skills reinforced by her six years of ICU RN experience prior to completion of her advanced degree. Kat was born and raised in North Central Florida. Her and her husband have a son and daughter. She is an artist in multiple mediums with specific interest in paint, pencil, and tattoo (recreational tattoo and cosmetic for women undergoing chemo and/or breast reconstruction).
Jenny was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. She received a Masters of Science in Nursing in Adult Gerontology Acute Care and a Masters of Public Health in Global Epidemiology from Emory University. Jenny is most proud of her contributions to clinical and epidemiological research and is published in the Journal of Infectious Diseases. In her spare time, Jenny enjoys photography with her work most recently displayed in the Atlanta School of Photography Virtual Student Show.
Amber was born and raised in Riverview, Florida. She completed her Masters of Science with a major in Physician Assistant Studies at Wagner College in Staten Island, New York. Amber’s passions in pursuit of her career include medical mission trips to Peru and Guatemala along with playing collegiate soccer. Fun fact about Amber is that she is an identical twin. She loves watching sports and spending time with her new puppy.
Nate was born and raised in Ocala, Florida. He received his Masters of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Florida. Prior to this, he worked as an EEG technologist. His wife, Ashley, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at UF. Nate is proud to be a first-generation college student. He enjoys kayaking, walking his dogs, traveling to the beach, and playing sports.
Jess graduated with a Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Florida. Her passions in pursuit of her career include humanitarian missions to remote villages in Afghanistan. She was born and raised in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Her hobbies include hiking, kayaking, and rock climbing.
