Katherine “Mackenzie” Thompson, is the Lead Advanced Practice Provider for Neurocritical Care. She was born and raised in Tennessee where she completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Tennessee and subsequently received her Masters of Medical Sciences in Physician Assistant Studies at Lincoln Memorial University. Her role within the Neurocritical Care program focuses on onboarding, mentorship and education. Mackenzie’s hobbies include spending quality time with her husband, daughter, and Goldendoodle, along with traveling to new places and visiting friends and family.
Kat joined the Neurocritical care team in 2019 after receiving a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Adult-Gerontology Acute Care from the University of Florida. She is a great asset to the team with her education and proceduralist skills reinforced by her six years of ICU RN experience prior to completion of her advanced degree. Kat was born and raised in North Central Florida. Her and her husband have a son and daughter. She is an artist in multiple mediums with specific interest in paint, pencil, and tattoo (recreational tattoo and cosmetic for women undergoing chemo and/or breast reconstruction).
Amber was born and raised in Riverview, Florida. She completed her Masters of Science with a major in Physician Assistant Studies at Wagner College in Staten Island, New York. Amber’s passions in pursuit of her career include medical mission trips to Peru and Guatemala along with playing collegiate soccer. Fun fact about Amber is that she is an identical twin. She loves watching sports and spending time with her new puppy.
Nate was born and raised in Ocala, Florida. He received his Masters of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Florida. Prior to this, he worked as an EEG technologist. His wife, Ashley, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at UF. Nate is proud to be a first-generation college student. He enjoys kayaking, walking his dogs, traveling to the beach, and playing sports.
Jess graduated with a Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Florida. Her passions in pursuit of her career include humanitarian missions to remote villages in Afghanistan. She was born and raised in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Her hobbies include hiking, kayaking, and rock climbing.
Ed was born and raised in Paris, France. He completed his Physician Assistant studies at Nova in Jacksonville, FL, where he also served at the House of Delegates for the national association of Physician Assistants. Prior to this, he taught Anatomy and Physiology courses at a college in Tulsa, OK, inspiring the future generations of healthcare providers. His passion for baking led him to open an online French bakery with a fellow French friend, recreating some of the most iconic French pastries. He enjoys watching PSG and the national French team play soccer, playing video games, traveling, biking, hiking, kayaking, exploring the outdoors, day tripping to the beach, and going on food adventures.
Kensley received her Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Florida, where she served as the Community Outreach Chair for her class. Prior to attending graduate school, she enjoyed a career as a social worker with a focus in child welfare. She has lived in Gainesville for 20 years and enjoys spending time with family, traveling, volunteering, cooking, and watching football.
Scott graduated with a Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Florida. He is passionate about helping others, not solely as a healthcare provider, but also through community initiatives. Scott is a founding partner of a local 501(c)(3) non-profit organization supporting music education programs. He enjoys traveling, writing, nature, photography, cooking, and music. He is best defined by his commitment to and quality of relationships with his wife, family, and friends.
