“Developing Therapies of the Future to become Treatments for Today”

Neuromuscular Diseases affect are believed to affect over 250,000 people in the United States.  Everybody either knows or has met someone with a neuromuscular disease.  The diseases range from those that can be treated with 1 or 2 medications, to those that require a very comprehensive plan of medications, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, and assistive devices.  The University of Florida neuromuscular division is focused on the evaluating people with neuromuscular disease and developing a personalized care plan to improve function, treat disease, and improve quality of life.  Our vision is:

To develop a neuromuscular clinical care system that incorporates cutting age diagnostics, therapeutics, and research in patient centered approach.  To integrate clinical care and research in an efficient care system and be known as a top institution for discovery, invention, innovation, and implementation

We accomplish this by giving every patient the opportunity to participate in developing the care plan and participate in research.  For some neuromuscular diseases the cure is not yet available, but treatments for the symptoms are available.  Please contact us for more information.
