Multi-Disciplinary Training

During the fellowship, 20 percent of the total time will be dedicated for rotations with the different specialties involved in our center’s multidisciplinary MS treatment including neurorehabilitation, neuro ophthalmology neuropsychology, neuroradiology, rheumatology, and urology. The fellow will also receive training in botulinum toxin injections for MS-related headaches and spasticity.

Additional exposure to the following professional activities in the areas of neurology, science, and allied disciplines will be provided as they apply specifically to MS:

  • Clinical neurology with strong emphasis on localization of adult and pediatric neurology
  • Emergency medicine for management of acute manifestations of MS and neuro-immunological disorders as well as acute complications of therapies
  • Psychiatry for interface of primary psychiatric conditions, drug-induced psychiatric complications, and psychogenic manifestations that mimic MS or related neuro-immunological Disorders
  • Neurorehabilitation for acute and chronic reeducation techniques
  • Neuroimaging: MRI, CT, PET and advanced MRI techniques and their application on the field of neuro-immunology
  • Neuroepidemiology: populational patterns and epidemiological issues relative to MS
  • Molecular biology, neuropharmacology, neurochemistry, and neurophysiology
  • Neurosurgery in the context of interventions for MS and related Neuro-immunological disorders
  • Neurological education: teaching experience for physicians, health professionals, patients and the public in MS
