About Bakhtawar Ahmad

Dr. Bakhtawar Ahmad is graduate of King Edward Medical University, Lahore, one of Asia’s oldest institutes of medicine. During her 5 years at university, she was the Secretary of Kemcolians’ Graduate Diaries, a society working to foster the student-alumni network and bring stories of success and perseveration of past graduates to the students. She was also the Chief-coordinator, Parliamentary Debates and Captain of the Badminton team. She discovered her passion for Neurology when in 2017, she attended a lecture by Professor Pu Mu-Ming, as part of Pakistan’s delegation in Asian Science Camp, Malaysia and learned for the first time how neuronal plasticity allows for learning and forming memories. Thereafter, she perused literature by various neurologists and scientists, like Oliver Sacks, Henry Marsh, Eric Kandel and V.S Ramachandran, which strengthened her resolve to pursue neurology. She is passionate about neuro-critical care, neurodegenerative disorders, cognitive neuroscience, interventional neurology, vascular neurology and public health. During her free time, she enjoys reading biographies and autobiographies, watching movies, attending musical concerts, trying new foods, and exploring the city on two wheels!
