About Sophia G Gibbons
Sophia Gibbons is a fourth-year undergraduate majoring in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology. She recently served as the corresponding author on a Journal Club article published in The Journal of Physiology, where she explored how pain selectively inhibits motor units and alters neuromuscular control. She has worked with startups like Happy Sneeze, a pelvic health platform focused on stress urinary incontinence, where she contributed to market research, product strategy, and early partnership development. She also works at Eyes and Optics, a multi-doctor optometric practice, supporting patient intake, pre-testing, and front office operations. She plans to pursue a career in healthcare consulting, medical sales, or wearable health technology, with a focus on roles at the intersection of strategy, impact, and applied science. She hopes to build a career that blends her interest in innovation with her background in physiology and her passion for improving care. Outside of academics and work, Sophia enjoys teaching vinyasa yoga, training for marathons, and traveling to new places.
