About Maria I Hella
Maria Hella, MD, received her undergraduate degree in biology at the University of North Florida and her medical degree from the University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine. She fulfilled her medicine internship and completed her residency in neurology at the University of Florida where she received the Chairman’s Award for Excellence in Patient Care. She went on to complete a fellowship in EEG and Clinical Neurophysiology.
Dr Hella is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) and also possesses the ABPN advanced certification in epilepsy. She serves on the executive board of the Florida Society of Neurology. She is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Epilepsy Society and the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society.

Dr.Hellas’s research interests include prolonged video EEG monitoring with a focus on non-convulsive status epilepticus and long–term outcomes of seizure disorders . She is also involved in developing quality improvement initiatives in the care of patients with epilepsy.
