About A. Enrique Martinez Nunez

Dr. A. Enrique Martinez-Nunez is a physician-scientist and faculty member in the Department of Neurology at the University of Florida’s Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases. He studied medicine at the Universidad Autonoma de Baja California, in Tijuana, and trained as a neurologist at Henry Ford Hospital, in Detroit. He then joined the Fixel Institute for a movement disorders fellowship.

His research focuses on analyzing resting-state fMRI and diffusion MRI through the network theory formalism and machine learning to predict outcomes in Parkinson’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders. He also uses this framework to better understand the network-level effects of deep brain stimulation to treat Parkinson’s disease, dystonia, and essential tremor.

Outside the ivory tower, he enjoys playing music from the baroque and romantic period on his classical guitar, reading potential literature, and overextending his pawn center.
