Crystal Yu, MD

Crystal Yu was born and raised in Poughkeepsie, NY. She first discovered her love of neuroscience at a sleep away camp in high school and she has had brains on the brain ever since. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in neuroscience at Brown University, worked as a laboratory technician in Massachusetts for a couple years, and then went on to medical school at Albany Medical College. She has truly been a northerner all her life! After doing an away rotation at UF, however, she found she loved both the UF neurology department as well as life in Gainesville and was thrilled on match day to discover her new status as a northern transplant. Her Georgia born and raised husband was also excited to say farewell to frigid winter weather! In her spare time, Crystal loves ballroom dancing with her husband, taking innumerable photos of their Siberian cat, Fiskr, cooking and baking a wide variety of cuisine, and engaging in nerdy pastimes including playing Dungeons & Dragons with her friends and making costumes inspired from video games.
