About Benjamin Chapin

My name is Ben Chapin, MD, and I joined the UF Department of Anesthesiology in 2023 as an assistant professor. I earned my medical degree from the University of Iowa and completed a residency in neurology at the University of Kansas. I then completed a fellowship in cognitive and behavioral neurology here at the University of Florida, followed by a research fellowship with the UF Health Perioperative Cognitive Anesthesia Network (PeCAN).

My research interests include postoperative delirium and how delirium accelerates dementia. As part of the Department of Anesthesiology’s commitment to researching perioperative brain wellness and anesthesia interactions, I have a clinic where I work with patients who have experienced postoperative delirium.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my son and daughter. I also play ultimate frisbee and enjoy hiking, biking, and reading (primarily science fiction).
