About Christine N Smith

I received my medical training and subsequent degree in 2016 from the Wake Forest University School of Medicine in North Carolina. I then attended the University of Florida, where I completed an internal medicine internship and a three-year residency. I have completed two yearlong fellowships as well, both at UF, the first in clinical neurophysiology and the second in epilepsy.

I was always interested in medicine from a young age and used to read a medical dictionary for fun, but it was not until college that I realized how much I enjoyed the biological sciences. In medical school, neurology and neuroscience were my favorite topics due to a personal connection, as my grandfather likely had Parkinson’s disease. It is my hope to contribute to the care of patients who have drug-resistant epilepsy, including those who may be candidates for epilepsy surgery. Through research related to electroencephalography in the critically ill, I hope to help improve the lives of those suffering with epilepsy. I value patient autonomy and like to involve my patients in their proposed care through education and open discussion.
